Quand il s'installa aux États-Unis, quels sont les artistes desquels ARMAN se sentit proche? Et l'aidèrent-ils à s'intégrer dans ce nouveau pays ?

Quand Arman et Eliane arrivèrent aux États-Unis pour la première exposition d'Arman à la Warren-Cordier (15 novembre 1961), ils retrouvèrent Larry Rivers, Jasper Johns et Robert Rauschenberg qu'ils connaissaient depuis 1960. Ils furent accueillis et immédiatement mis "dans le coup".
Autour d'eux, il y avait, entre autre, Marcel Duchamp, Larry Rivers, Claes Oldenburg, Jim Dine, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein , Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol ...
La "scène américaine" était en ébullition ; tous ces gens se connaissaient, se recevaient, discutaient, échangeaient.
Il était parfois difficile de choisir une fête (party) plutôt qu'une autre et l'on pouvait passer du penthouse de Jasper Johns à la Factory.
Cette animation créa une ambiance, une "famille" autour des deux Français et ces amitiés durèrerent longtemps pour certaines d'entre elles.
Arman me dira que l'activité, l'émulation qu'il avait senti à New York dans ces années-là, lui rappelait ce qu'il avait lu sur Montparnasse ou Montmartre et, que "c'était là, et avec lui, qu'une partie de l'histoire s'écrivait".

When he settled in the United States, who were the artists ARMAN felt close to? And did they help him get integrated in this new country?

When Arman and Éliane arrived in the USA for Arman's first exhibition at the Warren-Cordier (November 15th 1961), they found Larry Rivers, Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg whom they knew since 1960. They were greated and immediately put “in the groove”.
Around them there was, amongst others, Marcel Duchamp, Larry Rivers, Claes Oldenburg, Jim Dine, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol…
The “American scene” was boiling ; all these people knew each other and were inviting each other, discussing and exchanging.
It was sometimes difficult to choose a party rather than another one and you could go from Jasper Johns's penthouse to the Factory.
This animation created an atmosphere, a “family” around the two French ones and friendships lasted a long time for some of them.
Arman told me that the activity, the emulation he felt in New York in those years, reminded him of what he had read about Montparnasse or Montmartre and, that "it was there, with him, that a part of history was being written”.

Quando si installo‘ negli Stati Uniti, quali sono gli artisti dei quali ARMAN si senti‘ vicino ? E lo aiutarono ad integrarsi in questo nuovo paese ?

“La scena americana" era in ebollizione, tutte queste genti si conoscevano, si ricevevano, discutevano, scambiavano.
Era a volte difficile scegliere una festa (party) piuttosto che un'altra e si poteva passare dal penthouse di Jasper Johns al Factory. Quest'animazione creo‘ un ambiente, “una famiglia" attorno ai due Francesi e quest'amicizie sono durate a lungo per alcune fra esse.
Arman mi dirà che l'attività, l'emulazione che aveva sentito in New York in quest'anni, gli ricordevo ciò che aveva letto su Montparnasse o Montmartre e, che “era là, e con lui, che una parte della storia si scriveva".
