Comment et pourquoi l'Élysée demanda-t'elle à Arman d'y réaliser une œuvre? Que signifie-t-elle?
L'œuvre s'intitule : "À la République / Hommage à la Révolution de 1789"
Une commande de l'État faite à Arman, c'est la reconnaissance de la France envers l'artiste.
La période fut bonne pour lui, à Paris en tout cas, avec "L'heure de tous", "Consigne à vie"...
D'ailleurs, on pourrait organiser un jeu de piste à Paris pour circuler d'Arman en Arman...
Les commandes d'État sont toujours prisées par les artistes, d'abord parce que cela les asseoit dans leur époque et dans leur société, mais elles assurent aussi une pérennité à l'œuvre ; en général, ce sont des monuments qui durent.
Les drapeaux de l'Élysée resteront en place assez longtemps pour que l'on se souvienne d'Arman.
L'œuvre est un hommage à la Révolution Française, une allégorie au drapeau, symbole de la Nation, à la République, comme une amplification de l'œuvre de Delacroix "La liberté guidant le Peuple" exposée au Louvre.
Il y avait-il une meilleure place que le Palais de l'Élysée pour installer une œuvre en hommage à la République ?

Il periodo fu buono per lui, a Parigi in ogni caso, con opere come "L'heure pour tous" e "Consigne à vie"…
