Arman préparait-il ses réalisations avant de se mettre à l'ouvrage dans son atelier : dessinait-il avant, écrivait-il des notes, y a t-il des traces, le cas échéant ? Merci de votre réponse.

Oui, il en préparait certaines, dessins, maquettes, photomontages, notes dans son journal et ces traces existent. Certaines maquettes ont été détruites, d'autres vendues. Heureusement, ses journaux n'ont pas été détruits et resteront une source d'information concernant son travail. Il disait tenir ce journal comme un capitaine de navire tient le "log" ; rien de philosophique, mais un compte rendu journalier de sa journée, de ses états d'âme, de son état de santé, comme ce qu'il avait commencé dans la correspondance avec Éliane... Pour résumer, on pourrait dire que les préparatifs avaient à voir avec les oeuvres en volume, moins avec celles en deux dimensions.

Was Arman preparing his works before going to work in his studio : was he drawing before, was he writing notes, is there traces of those, if needed?  Thank you for your answer.

Yes, he prepared some of his works: drawings, models, photo mounting, notes in his diary and these traces do exist. Some models were destroyed, others were sold. Fortunately, his diary was not destroyed and will remain as an information source with respect to his work. He used to say he was keeping this diary like the captain of a vessel kept his logs ; nothing philosophical, but a daily report of his day, of his mood, of his health condition, a little like what he started in his letters to Éliane, his first wife... To sum it up, one may say that preparations often had to do with 3D works, less with those in two dimensions.

Ne preparava Arman le sue realizzazioni prima di mettersi al lavoro nel suo seminario : ne disegnava prima, ne scriveva note, ne ci sono delle tracce, se necessario? Grazie della vostra risposta.

Sì, ne preparava alcune, disegni, modelli, photomontaggi, note nel suo giornale e queste tracce esistono. Alcuni modelli sono stati distrutti, altri venduti. Fortunatamente, i suoi giornali non sono stati distrutti e resteranno una fonte d'informazione che riguarda il suo lavoro. Diceva tenere questo giornale poiché un capitano di nave tiene "il ceppo", nullo filosofico, ma un resoconto quotidiano del suo giorno, dei suoi stati di cuore, del suo stato di salute, come ciò che aveva cominciato nella corrispondenza con Éliane, la sua prima moglie... Per riassumere, si potrebbe dire che i preparativi dovevano vedere con le opere in volume, meno con quelle in due dimensioni.
